Acute
Homeotherapeutic Curriculum
This module consists of
six videotaped sessions plus accompanying exercises, reading, study and
quizzes. Expectations, assignments, and quizzes are clearly defined.
There are quizzes at the beginning of each session on the previous
session's material. A packet of cases, study material and related
journal articles are included with each videotape.
Besides watching and
participating in the approximately five-hour video session, an
additional fifteen or so hours of home study per session is also
necessary to qualify for a certificate and get the most out of the
course. For most people, we recommend completing one session per
month, making this a six-month course.
However, it can be done in any
time frame within one year that is comfortable for the student. After one year,
extensions may be applied for and may be subject to an additional fee.
Each session contains the following five sections:
Homeopathic
Philosophy: Studies from the classic work The Organon of Medicine
by
Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, with accompanying readings in
Lectures on
Homeopathic Philosophy by Kent.
Skills:
The entire acute case-taking process is taught thoroughly and methodically. Each month a
new step is added and skills are developed. Topics include case-taking, case analyses,
case evaluation and management, repertorization, and potency selection.
Therapeutics:
Each session covers a different acute therapeutic topic. These include
Psycho-Emotional Conditions (travel, insomnia, acute anxiety, and grief);
Musculoskeletal
Conditions; Upper Respiratory Infections; Injuries and Trauma; Ear, Nose, and Throat; and
Gastrointestinal Conditions.
Materia Medica:
Studies of six or seven homeopathic remedies associated with the sessions
therapeutic topic. The first remedy listed in the syllabus is studied in more depth, the
focus for the other remedies is on their essential characteristics.
Case Studies: Applying all that
weve learned to actual cases.
