  • Resveratrolís benefits

Patients with Type 2 diabetes have higher than normal levels of blood sugar and insulin.

For people with type 2 diabetes who want a supplement that may help them better manage their disease, resveratrol could be an answer. The authors of the study concluded that their findings "suggest that resveratrol could be used as an effective adjuvant therapy with a conventional hypoglycemic regimen to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus."

Resveratrol, the potent antioxidant and phytonutrient found in red wine and grapes, is often touted for its anti-aging properties and heart health benefits. Now people with type 2 diabetes may want to take notice of resveratrol, which boost blood sugar control in a recent study by improving hemoglobin A1c levels.

Treatment with resveratrol was found to significantly lower these levels 19.9 per cent reduction in glucose, and 47.4 per cent reduction in insulin. The levels of HDL, often referred to as "good cholesterol," was also improved by resveratrol treatment, showing an 11.5 per cent improvement in HDL cholesterol.

There is some controversy surrounding resveratrol. It's not certain to extend the life of humans, but there is some clear evidence it can fight off cancer and help with heart disease.

Here is a video on what resveratrol really can do for someone.
