  • please help!! cat with failing liver

    Hi All,

I have a 15 yr old cat with what appears to be a failing liver. She has lost a lot of
weight in the last 2 weeks. She is dehydrated and jaundiced. She had brown discharge from eyes 10 days ago which has dried up. She had no appeitite over the weekend but would drink water brought to her in a cup. She also started sleeping in confined spaces such as room corners and under my desk. Her fur is
    falling out and matting.

She is now at the vets on the IV. He x-rayed her today to see if there were any masses or growths but didn't find any. He is going to run blood tests. He said her chances are slim at this point. Her temp was low this morning 98F.

She was herself 3 weeks ago, fiesty as ever. We were talking about how she didn't look 15. The only thing out of the ordinary was she developed a wart on her face 4 months ago and 2 months ago we got a puppy which put her out of sortsfor a bit but she was adjusting and ignoring it after the first or second week.

I will probably bring her home for the night. My vet doesn't have 24 hr coverage and my only other option is the 24hr emergency clinic for the night. He doesn't want to leave her unattended on the IV. I don't want to put her through the trauma of being transported to another strange place. I know there may not be any hope to save her but is there anything I can do with homeopathy to help her be more comfortable if I can't save her. Please help if you can. I've never treated animals and I am far to emtionally involved in this one to be objective. Thanks,

    SAM

Sorry I posted this in 2 places but I'm deperate.

    Dear Sam,

Give "IGNATIA" high potency NOW and then answer these questions.

What was her temperment 5 months ago?

    Was she active?

What do you mean "...fiesty as ever..."?
    Was she always fiesty?

If the "IGNATIA" works, then her 1st reaction will be to eat.(Her 1st response to "THE CORRECT REMEDY" will be to have an appetite.). You may have to wait a bit.

DON'T HESITATE. Respond back. I am waiting.

      John,

I am going to go get her at the vet now. I will take the IGNATIA with me. Yes, up to 3 or 4 weeks ago she was very active. We had relatives in and we were discussing how active she was for her age. Thanks, I will see how it goes I probably won't get back with her until 7:30 or 8:00

I noticed on one of your posts you said you lived in Hawley. We went by there this weekend on our way to NY for a wedding. Thanks for your help again. I will be in touch.

All I have is a 30x. I will have to use that until I can get a 200c my local remedy store. Should I repeat the 30x a couple of times in quick succession (15 min) until I see something?

          John,

I just got home from the vet. They wanted to wait to after office calls to examine her and decide whether to sent her to emergency kennel or let me take her.

I asked if I could see her in the meantime. And I told him i was going to give her a remedy and he said ok. And then he asked if I could try to get her to eat. She ate some chicken baby food and some canned cat food off of a spoon for me. So he loaded her up with fluids and let me bring her home for the night. She's sleeping in the corner now. I've given her the Ignatia in water 3 times. And I will try feed her again later. What should I look for now?

He wants me to bring her back in the morning so he can check her and put her on the IV for longer. He should also get the blood tests back tomorrow. Cross your fingers.

Thanks for your help. Do you think this was because she felt displaced by the puppy? I could kick myself because I thought of giving Ignatia to her when we got the puppy but didn't. I'll let you know how things go. Thanks again,

          SAM

            Dear Sam,

If you feel the ignatia gave a response and she is eating , then try to reframe from taking her back. You will have to go by your inner sensing in order to decide if she is getting better or not. Here is an important part of homeopathy, being true to our judgements.

If "IGNATIA 30C" gave a response, then we will have to wait for the next symptom picture; But not at the expence of her life.

Do not hesitate to post her symptomolgy and do not spare the details.

Sam, I'm not a doctor but my guess is this is more than just feeling displaced by the puppy. She is 15 which also shows the wonderful care you have and continue to give her. You are doing everything possible and hopefully things will turn out all right.

                John,

I need to go to work today and I don't want to leave her alone. So I feel I need to take her back for the day. If I'm lucky I will bring her home again tonight. I will be in contact with them during the day. And she will get fluids through the IV and they will be able to feed her. The vet was very open to my giving her the remedy. I think I will try to go visit her during the day to see how she is myself. She is eating very small amounts every few hours if I give it to her off of the spoon. She is still very weak. But I am praying. But if it is her time, I know I was lucky for one more night and 15 wonderful years.

Thank you for your help. I will post more info when I have it.

                Dessie,

Thank you for your kind words.

                SAM

                  All,

My sweet cat passed on last night. According to the lab tests her liver and kidneys were shutting down and she had severe tissue damage. Her blood platlets were very low so the vet said she may have internal bleeding soon. I was with her until the end. Thank you all for you help and kindness. I think the remedy did help because she never seemed to be in great pain. and she was peaceful at the end.
